Actuarial Analyst III
Imperial Health Plan of California, Inc. is seeking an experienced Actuarial Analyst III to join our Actuarial Services department. This role reports to the Senior Director, Actuarial Services and is responsible for assisting the lead actuary in task transition, process automation, and detailed data analysis.
Job Summary
The Actuarial Analyst III will work closely with the lead actuary to transition tasks and will require extensive experience with relational databases and process automation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn, conduct detailed analysis, and provide accurate results. This role manages reporting projects to ensure timely and accurate completion of data and analysis requests from various departments.
Essential Job Functions
- Support analysis for the actuarial and finance departments, including engagements with outside vendors for pricing, risk score initiatives, and quality measures.
- Perform periodic utilization and cost reporting, and support the revenue cycle.
- Assist in consolidating data management and creating dashboards using tools such as SQL, Power BI, and Excel.
- Automate processes and improve efficiency to enhance operational workflows.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and documentation of methodologies.
- Manage assigned projects and proactively communicate any potential roadblocks to leadership.
- Develop a strong understanding of Imperial's various data sources.
- Document all coding, analysis, and reporting projects according to established protocols for transparency and repeatability.
- Collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with management, internal departments, and external vendors.
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and adhere to Compliance Plan and HIPAA regulations.

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and Excel is required. Experience with other languages and platforms is a plus.
- Minimum of four years of experience in SQL reporting, analytics, data analysis, extraction, and manipulation.
- Minimum of four years designing reports and developing executive-level presentations.
- Minimum of four years of experience in the healthcare industry (Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Exchange/ACA Markets).
- Must have completed at least four actuarial exams and be actively pursuing further exams through the Society of Actuaries.
- EZCAP experience is preferred but not required.
