Position Overview
Reporting to the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Manager, the Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator provides administrative and technical support for the OHSE department. This role involves working directly with leadership and employees to conduct risk assessments, assist with incident investigation, and provide internal safety training.
What You Will Do
- Demonstrate commitment to IMP Occupational Health Safety & Environment policies with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Advise departments and promote hazard awareness to reduce workplace incidents.
- Support production and support teams with guidance based on applicable laws, regulations, and codes.
- Maintain OHSE data, track department metrics, and prepare monthly statistical reports.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify hazards and develop control strategies.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for safe return to work programs.
- Prepare and deliver health and safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Inspect and maintain OHSE and emergency response tools and equipment.
- Coordinate qualitative and quantitative fit testing and other external safety testing.
- Stay current on relevant health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
What You Will Bring
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety with one-year related experience or a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Knowledge in ergonomics and disability case coordination is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, codes, standards, and best practices.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations in a unionized environment.
- Exceptional communication skills for effective listening, group presentations, and report writing.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Eligibility for U.S. International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) with a required Level II (Secret) security clearance.
