Purpose of the Job
The Claims Assistant provides administrative support to Claims Examiners, ensuring efficient claims processing and prompt benefits payments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide basic to intermediate administrative support to Claims Examiners.
- Contact insured parties to obtain necessary claim processing information.
- Document conversations and update the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Assist in data entry, retrieval, and record keeping using computer systems.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Process claims for indemnity and non-medical payments and state-mandated forms.
- Schedule medical appointments, calculate mileage, and send appointment reminders.
- Support Claims Examiners with post-claims resolution and related projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GED required with a minimum of one year related experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn ERP software are essential. Must possess strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role is based in an office environment requiring frequent use of computers, telephones, and office equipment. Normal office demands such as sitting, walking, and standing apply.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly wage range is $19.58 - $30.88, exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final salary will be based on experience, education, and geographic location.
