About the Role

ICON plc is a world-leading healthcare intelligence and clinical research organization. We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist to join our team in Cambridge, MA on site. In this role, you will design, conduct, and analyze complex clinical research studies and drive innovative research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate multiplex immunofluorescence assays using platforms such as Akoya Biosciences, Leica Bond RX, or similar.
  • Perform tissue staining, imaging, and quantitative analysis of FFPE and frozen tissue samples.
  • Collaborate with pathologists, bioinformaticians, and project teams to interpret spatial biology data.
  • Optimize antibody panels, fluorophore selection, and signal amplification strategies.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records ensuring data integrity and reproducibility.
  • Mentor junior scientists in mIF techniques and best practices.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, regulatory submissions, and presentations.
  • Manage assay validations, experiments, and data analysis independently.
  • Educate colleagues on new testing methods and technologies.
  • Assist in developing proposals, pricing, and transferring assays to other ICON labs.

Preferred Experience

Experience in a GLP/GCLP or CLIA-regulated environment. Familiarity with digital pathology and integration of mIF data with other omics platforms. Prior involvement in clinical trial biomarker development or companion diagnostics is desirable.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Immunology, Pathology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. Alternatively, MS or BS with appropriate experience may be considered. Must have proven expertise in multiplex immunofluorescence including panel design, antibody validation, and image analysis. Hands-on experience with automated staining platforms and imaging systems, as well as proficiency in image analysis software, is required.
