Job Description
Introduction
You must be a full-time student at an accredited university in Hungary at the time of your internship, which will start in January 2026 and end at the end of 2026.
As a UX Design Intern, you’ll be an essential member of a product design squad (3-5 designers) working to create human-centered experiences by designing the structural and informational foundation for IBM Cloud products, services, and systems.
You will join IBM Studios Budapest, a local team of 30 designers and researchers dedicated to collaborative work, learning, and mentoring in a hybrid work environment.
Your Role And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with UX researchers to test concepts and integrate findings.
- Create low and high fidelity mockups, prototypes and development-ready specifications.
- Design information architecture, interactions, content, and navigation using IBM's design systems.
- Work with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, sales, and marketing.
- Participate in agile and design thinking methodologies and UX reviews.
- Balance time: 40% hands-on design, 40% team collaboration, 20% personal training.
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- A portfolio showcasing user-centered design and interaction design.
- Experience with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align design with business goals.
- Solid understanding of design principles including typography, layout, grid systems, and color composition.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills in English.
- Able to work from the office in Budapest 2-3 days per week.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Knowledge of inclusive design practices and accessibility standards.
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software development or a related field.
- Familiarity with design systems, agile practices, and design thinking methodologies.
- Desire to create top industry products along with infectious curiosity and a sense of humor.
