You will apply a user-centered perspective and advocate for the customer/end user in all interactions. You may also engage directly with customers or other users throughout the design, research, or content development process.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As an IBM Z Design, User Research, or Technical Content Professional Intern, your focus will be on meeting individual and team objectives, learning your craft, and contributing to research, design, and/or content support for a product. You will gain insights into IBM, IBM Design practices, and the impact of content on user experience. Your efforts will typically be concentrated on a single product within your business area, with guidance and feedback from a senior team member. You will also contribute to the design community and our larger content ecosystem by supporting community activities, sharing knowledge, and maintaining operational aspects of the community.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Experience working on enterprise information technology (business to business), and enterprise technology personas or archetypes.
- Experience with Enterprise Design Thinking by IBM or other design thinking frameworks.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, confident working within a cross-functional team and at various levels.
- Familiarity with the IBM Z product stack.
- User Experience/Research intern: Demonstrated knowledge of User Experience design.
- User Experience/Research intern: Ability to perform UX research for software products or Web.
- Content Development intern: Experience developing, editing, and producing accurate technical documentation using XML, DITA, and shared source repositories such as GitHub.
- Content Development intern: Knowledge of Native AI solutions for creating structured content.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Technical Communications or Design (including Design & Technology, UX Design, Software Product & Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), UX Research, Information Experience Design, Game Design, Human Factors, Usability, or Ethnography), or a Software or Computer Systems Engineering degree with a minor in Communications, Design, or completion of a certificate program in Design.
