Your Role And Responsibilities

As a RS: Toward Autonomous Data Management Intern 2026, you will help advance autonomous data management systems using foundation models (FMs) and AI agents. Your work will involve data discovery, knowledge representation, data access, querying, and automated data-driven insights. You will convert natural language into trusted insights and improve efficiency and reliability in complex data workflows.

This role primarily features:

  • Step-by-step planning and reasoning for complex data workflows
  • Developing low-computational-cost inference techniques
  • Advancing trustworthy data agents with uncertainty quantification and mitigation

Skills And Tasks Of Interest

  • Using FMs for code generation for SQL/NoSQL and Python
  • Combining FMs with knowledge graphs and multi-modal data
  • Improving FM inference for answer quality and computational cost
  • Creating generative-AI tooling for DataOps
  • Developing efficient AI agents for autonomous systems

Preferred Education & Experience

Applicants should be pursuing graduate studies in computer science or related fields and have at least one main author research publication at a top AI conference (e.g., NeurIPS, AAAI, VLDB, SIGMOD, IJCAI, ICML, ICLR, or ICAPS). Familiarity with large language models and related technical areas such as knowledge graphs, SQL, reinforcement learning, AI planning, and prompt optimization is also desired.
