Introduction
In the role of Platform Engineer at IBM, you will help build and support the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) where all Apptio applications are deployed. This is a collaborative role that interacts with GitHub, Linux, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Docker, Confluence, Jira, Slack, and AWS.
About the Team
The Platform and Reliability Engineering (PRE) team at Apptio is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the IDP and driving adoption of platform best practices across engineering teams. The team is distributed across the United States, Poland, and Australia.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop self-service features to improve developer velocity.
- Manage deployments via ArgoCD.
- Streamline CI process using GitHub actions.
- Improve observability by reviewing KPI dashboards and alerts.
- Troubleshoot production issues using runbooks and on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with platform engineers, product developers, and support teams.
- Perform regular platform maintenance tasks.
What IBM Looks For
The ideal candidate is passionate about problem solving and is eager to grow while contributing to platform development. You should have 1-2 years of experience in a Platform Development, DevOps, SRE, or similar role, along with foundational programming knowledge (preferably Golang), container technologies, IaC, and cloud provider services.
