Your Role And Responsibilities
As an Application Developer specializing in Relational Database Management Systems, you will contribute to a large-scale modernization initiative focused on migrating legacy IMS/DL1 databases to modern relational platforms such as PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
In this role, you will design and implement data migration solutions, leveraging Mainframe SQL expertise and PowerShell (or equivalent scripting) to automate and execute data transformations from hierarchical legacy systems to scalable relational environments. You will also collaborate across platforms, considering dependencies with DB2 on Mainframe and Oracle-based systems to ensure a seamless and reliable transition.
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Mainframe environments, including IMS/DL1 or similar hierarchical databases
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, transformations, and optimization
- Experience in database/data migration projects
- Experience designing and implementing logical and physical data models
- Scripting experience (PowerShell or equivalent such as Bash/KSH)
- Solid understanding of relational databases (Postgres and/or MSSQL)
- French language at minimum B1 level (language learning support provided)
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Exposure to DB2 on Mainframe
- COBOL knowledge (contextual understanding)
- Oracle database exposure
- Experience working across multiple platforms (Linux/Unix/Windows)
- Experience in enterprise-scale modernization programs
