Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Kafka Administrator at IBM, you will manage enterprise-grade Kafka environments with deep expertise in Confluent Platform, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Kafka security configurations. You will work US regular hours (8 PM to 5 AM Philippines time) to support global operations and ensure high availability, scalability, and security of Kafka clusters.

  • Administer and maintain Kafka clusters for high performance.
  • Deploy and manage Confluent Platform using CFK on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
  • Implement Kafka security using SASL_SSL, RBAC, ACLs, and role bindings.
  • Configure and support ClusterLink, Replicators, and Active-Passive clusters.
  • Integrate and manage Confluent Connectors (IBM MQ, JDBC, S3, Snowflake) and CDC connectors.
  • Collaborate with development teams on Python/Spring Boot Kafka applications.
  • Utilize GitHub, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD for CI/CD and automation.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Kafka performance.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Kafka Administrator.
  • At least 2 years of CFK usage for building Confluent Platform on OpenShift or Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in Kafka security protocols (SASL_SSL, RBAC, ACLs, role bindings).
  • Experience with ClusterLink, Replicators and Active-Passive configurations using CFK.
  • Working experience with Confluent Connectors including IBM MQ, JDBC, S3 and Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with CDC connectors, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Python/Spring Boot Kafka applications.
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Confluent Certified Administrator or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning for Kafka clusters.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Confluent Control Center.
  • Strong scripting skills for automation and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
