As the Cyber Security Consultant Intern, you will work with visionaries across multiple industries to improve the hybrid cloud and AI journey using IBM's robust technology platforms, including Software and Red Hat.

Your Role And Responsibilities

  • Understand client cybersecurity goals and recommend steps and technologies.
  • Shadow IBM Cybersecurity professionals and assist in client engagements.
  • Collaborate with senior security consultants and leadership across teams.
  • Learn industry specifics and address Cybersecurity challenges.
  • Participate in networking events and career development activities.

What You Can Expect

IBM emphasizes ongoing learning, technical and core skill development, and personal growth through coaching and mentorship. You may work on projects spanning Strategy & Risk, Threat Management, Identity & Access Management, Cloud & Infrastructure Security, Managed Security Services, and Portfolio Management.

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree (in progress for internship candidates)

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Eligibility for Canadian L2 Secret Clearance.
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity with foundational security concepts.
  • Familiarity with operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols.
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Leadership experience and adaptability in task ownership and challenges.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, PCI-DSS), SIEM fundamentals, and scripting.
