Your Role And Responsibilities
As an Associate Cyber Security Consultant, you will:
- Develop an understanding of client cybersecurity goals and processes.
- Shadow IBM Cybersecurity professionals and participate in client engagements.
- Assist with client deliverables and recommend security posture improvements.
- Work with senior security consultants and leadership across multiple functions.
- Learn about various cybersecurity challenges across client industries.
- Engage with the IBM North America intern community during networking and development events.

IBM values ongoing learning, technical development, and mentoring. Interns may work on projects across Cybersecurity practices including Strategy & Risk, Threat Management, Identity & Access Management, Cloud & Infrastructure Security, Managed Security Services, and Portfolio Management.
Preferred Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science or a related field is required. Eligibility for Canadian L2 Secret Clearance is necessary. You will benefit from strong consultative skills, a keen interest in cybersecurity, and familiarity with operating systems and networking fundamentals.
Technical and Professional Expertise
Candidates should exhibit the ability to work both independently and in teams, demonstrate excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, and show proficiency in scripting or programming languages like Python, C/C++ or PowerShell. Experience with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, PCI-DSS), SIEM solutions (Q Radar, Splunk/Sentinel), and basic network troubleshooting is advantageous.
