Job Description
Role: Fractional Head of Trust & Safety
At Humiint, we partner with growing platforms and digital communities that are scaling fast but facing new vectors of abuse. Whether it’s defining content moderation guidelines, stopping coordinated inauthentic behavior, or building the escalation paths for critical incidents, the right Fractional Head of Trust & Safety ensures your users and brand remain protected—without the overhead of a full-time executive.
We’re looking to connect with principled policy architects and risk mitigators who understand the delicate balance between user safety, free expression, and business growth. If you are an expert at anticipating how bad actors will exploit a system, designing automated and human-in-the-loop defenses, and managing high-stakes crises, this is a great opportunity to apply your specialized expertise flexibly while securing the digital public square.
This role is ideal for senior trust and safety leaders who want to build the defensive infrastructure for multiple scaling platforms on a part-time, project-based, or advisory retainer basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Drafting and refining community guidelines and terms of service to clearly define acceptable behavior and enforcement consequences.
- Threat Modeling: Proactively identifying product vulnerabilities and anticipating how new features might be weaponized before they launch.
- Moderation Strategy: Designing the workflow for reviewing user-generated content, balancing automated detection systems with scaled human review.
- Incident Response: Acting as the ultimate escalation point for severe policy violations and drafting response protocols for emergencies or PR crises.
- Fraud Prevention: Building the rules and friction points necessary to stop financial scams, account takeovers, and the proliferation of fake accounts.
- Transparency Reporting: Structuring the data collection and narrative for public-facing safety reports to build trust with users and regulators.
- Vendor Management: Evaluating and integrating third-party safety, identity verification, and content moderation services.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Partnering with product, engineering, and legal teams to ensure safety is built in by design, rather than bolted on as an afterthought.
Required Qualities
- Proven Experience: Background in trust and safety, policy enforcement, or risk management at a senior leadership level.
- Systems Thinking: The ability to design scalable processes that can handle massive volumes of interactions without relying solely on manual review.
- Crisis Management: Exceptional composure under pressure when dealing with highly sensitive, time-critical, or disturbing escalations.
- Ethical Judgment: A strong moral compass paired with the pragmatism to make difficult, nuanced decisions in absolute gray areas.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze moderation queues, false-positive rates, and abuse metrics to optimize enforcement accuracy.
- Communication: Translating complex safety risks and policy decisions into clear business impacts for the executive team and board.
- Resilience: The mental fortitude to oversee teams dealing with difficult situations and the commitment to implementing wellness protocols for reviewers.
