Key Responsibilities of a Fractional Internal Auditor

  • Risk Assessment: Conducting comprehensive enterprise risk assessments to identify financial, operational, and strategic vulnerabilities.
  • Audit Planning: Developing and executing a risk-based internal audit plan aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Control Evaluation: Testing the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls to prevent fraud, waste, and financial misstatement.
  • Operational Audits: Reviewing cross-functional business processes to identify bottlenecks and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Executive Reporting: Drafting clear, concise audit reports for executive management and the Board of Directors, highlighting findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Remediation Tracking: Following up with department leaders to ensure agreed-upon corrective actions are implemented effectively and on time.
  • Policy Review: Assessing current company policies and procedures to ensure they are robust, documented, and consistently followed by staff.

Required Qualities for a Fractional Internal Auditor
