Job Description
Role: Fractional Dispute Resolution Specialist
At Humiint, we partner with businesses that are facing complex conflicts and want to avoid the crushing costs, public exposure, and delays of formal litigation. Whether it’s mediating a high-stakes vendor disagreement, resolving a deadlocked partnership, or negotiating a delicate customer settlement, the right Fractional Dispute Resolution Specialist finds the path to agreement—without the massive retainer of a traditional law firm.
We’re looking to connect with master negotiators, neutral arbitrators, and conflict strategists who know how to de-escalate tension and architect mutually beneficial outcomes. If you are an expert at navigating highly emotional conversations, finding creative compromises, and keeping disputes out of the courtroom, this is a great opportunity to apply your skills flexibly while saving companies time, money, and reputational damage.
This role is ideal for certified mediators, former legal counsel, or negotiation consultants who want to resolve complex commercial or internal disputes for multiple organizations on a part-time, project-based, or hourly retainer basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Mediation: Acting as a neutral third party to facilitate constructive dialogue and guide disputing businesses toward a voluntary resolution.
- Strategic Negotiation: Representing the company’s interests in complex settlement discussions to achieve favorable terms without escalating to litigation.
- Conflict Assessment: Interviewing involved parties to uncover the root causes of the dispute and evaluating the financial and operational risks of non-resolution.
- De-escalation: Managing highly contentious interactions, managing egos, and redirecting the focus toward pragmatic, forward-looking solutions.
- Settlement Structuring: Collaborating with legal teams to draft the framework of an agreement, ensuring the resolution is clear, binding, and confidential.
- Dispute System Design: Advising leadership on how to build internal frameworks and contract clauses to efficiently handle future grievances before they escalate.
- Partnership Realignment: Facilitating structured conversations between co-founders, board members, or joint venture partners to resolve deadlocks and realign business goals.
- Risk Advisory: Providing executive teams with an objective analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of their position before they commit to a legal battle.
Required Qualities
- Proven Experience: Deep background in commercial mediation, alternative dispute resolution, corporate law, or executive-level negotiation.
- Emotional Intelligence: Exceptional empathy and the capacity to read a room, manage hostility, and build trust with adversarial parties.
- Active Listening: The skill to hear what is not being said and uncover the underlying interests beneath the rigid stated positions.
- Neutrality: The ability to remain completely objective and impartial when facilitating discussions as a neutral third party.
- Creative Problem Solving: A talent for finding alternative trade-offs and structural solutions when financial negotiations reach an impasse.
- Legal Acumen: Strong foundational understanding of contract enforceability, liability, and the procedural mechanics of settlement agreements.
- Communication: Flawless verbal and written articulation to ensure that all parties clearly understand the terms being discussed and agreed upon.
