Lead Content Designer at Humana

As a Lead Content Designer on Humana's Consumer Digital team, you will play a critical role in shaping customer experience by defining and creating content that ensures people receive the necessary information to successfully choose and use their plans.
You will partner with leaders across business, research, design, technology, marketing, legal, and compliance to deliver the right information, in the right ways, at the right times to consumers.
Responsibilities
- Create content strategies, direct information hierarchy, and define voice and tone to align content with audience objectives, business goals, research insights, brand guidelines, legal/compliance, accessibility, and digital standards.
- Collaborate with other UX experts on content organization, navigation, site maps, and information architecture.
- Seek simplicity, distilling complex concepts into clear, concise, and contextual content and taxonomies.
- Create and manage user-centric content for all digital experience steps, including headlines, product summaries, comparison, alt text, microcopy, buttons, navigation, and error messaging.
- Develop tools such as content matrices and editorial calendars to track and manage content updates.
- Regularly audit and inventory online content to identify gaps in quality, compliance, standards, and branding.
- Continuously improve digital content by partnering on research needs, mining user data, and conducting competitive assessments.
- Maintain Humana digital content guidelines, standards, tools, and processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Design, Communications, English, Journalism, or a similar field.
- At least 7 years of content design, content strategy, and UX writing experience.
- Experience writing and optimizing content for a variety of content types, digital channels, and secure portals.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously, and able to move between strategic and tactical work.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Excellent information architecture skills.
- Experience working with varied stakeholder teams including subject matter experts, content reviewers, editors, and legal/compliance professionals.
- Portfolio is required with application and resume.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with working in a regulatory environment that requires legal and compliance oversight.
- E-commerce experience.
- Experience with collaboration and agile technology, such as Jira.
- Familiarity with content management systems.
- Familiarity with Search Engine Marketing and Optimization strategies.
- Brings clarity to ambiguity.
- Works well in an iterative environment.
Work-At-Home Information
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, self-provided internet service must meet the following criteria:
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection is suggested.
- Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections can be used only if approved by leadership.
- Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet business requirements.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive compensation range of $104,000 - $143,000 per year, eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
