Human Interest is changing that by making it affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses to offer employees a path to financial independence through retirement savings. We are a high-growth fintech company changing the retirement industry, backed by significant investors including Marshall Wace, Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, TPG (The Rise Fund), SoftBank, Glynn Capital, NewView Capital, USVP, Wing, Uncork, and more.
About The Role: Contracts Manager
We're seeking an exceptional Contracts Manager who thrives on operational excellence at scale and is eager to expand their legal expertise. In this role, you will be responsible for high-volume contracting, primarily focusing on vendor agreements, NDAs, partnership agreements, engagement letters, and DPAs. You will maximize our AI-powered contract management capabilities through Evisort, and build new contracting processes, workflows, and training programs to enhance efficiency and prepare for future growth.
Beyond commercial contracting, you will be a key pillar of our corporate governance function, supporting Board of Directors logistics, managing entity compliance, and assisting with stock plan administration to mature our corporate infrastructure. This position is ideal for someone who has mastered contract fundamentals, can manage high volume without sacrificing quality, possesses a “get-it-done” mentality, and wants to leverage modern legal tech. If you are passionate about operational contracting and wish to contribute to a company with significant mission impact, this is an excellent opportunity.
What You Get To Do Every Day
- Execute high-volume contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements including vendor, NDA, partnership, engagement letters, and DPAs, ensuring efficient deal flow and business protection within established frameworks.
- Maximize our tech stack: Oversee the daily management of Evisort and related AI tools like Google Gemini, implementing AI-based workflows to improve speed and accuracy in contracting.
- Build scalable infrastructure: Develop documentation, processes, resources, and training to enhance commercial contracting, ensuring an audit-ready, scalable, and operationally excellent function.
- Be the go-to partner: Serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders across Procurement, IT/Engineering, Finance, and Operations, offering clear explanations of contract positions, triaging requests, and expediting deals with sound judgment.
- See problems before they happen: Proactively identify process bottlenecks and contract risks, providing practical solutions that balance legal protection with business needs.
- Support corporate governance and compliance: Manage corporate records, entity filings, coordinate Board and committee meetings, maintain the corporate/compliance calendar, and assist with stock plan and other corporate projects to ensure robust governance.
- Contribute across the legal team: As part of a lean team, pitch in on diverse projects, including special transactions, compliance matters, and other legal operations work.
What You Bring To The Role
- 5-7 years of contracts management experience, with significant in-house experience at a SaaS or B2B technology company (fintech experience is a plus).
- High-volume expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage substantial deal flow with exceptional attention to detail while prioritizing business objectives.
- CLM system proficiency: Hands-on experience with Contract Lifecycle Management tools such as Evisort, Ironclad, or similar platforms.
- Solid negotiation skills: Ability to engage directly with vendor counsel, discern critical issues, and know when to be flexible or firm.
- Process mindset: Proven track record of identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable solutions.
- Corporate governance experience: Prior experience managing corporate records, entity filings, and supporting board-level logistics with a detail-oriented approach; familiarity with stock plan administration is a plus.
- Cross-functional influence: Success in building trust with business teams through responsiveness, commercial judgment, and a solutions-focused partnership approach.
- Grit and self-motivation: A willingness to tackle both routine and complex tasks with equal care, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing needs.
What Sets Great Candidates Apart
- Maniacal attention to detail and absolute discretion in sensitive matters.
- Anticipates issues, understands the bigger picture, and provides thoughtful, practical solutions.
- Adapts gracefully to shifting priorities and compressed schedules with speed and flexibility.
- Genuine passion for operational excellence and building effective, scalable systems.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working outside strict expertise boundaries.
- Takes ownership of complex matters and prioritizes deadlines autonomously.
- Favors clear, concise communication and drafting over verbose legalese.
- A low-ego, high-impact approach, ready to contribute wherever the team needs.
