IT Security Specialist

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an IT Security Specialist to join their Enterprise Cybersecurity team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day support of the IT security program, identification and documentation of security and business architecture, and monitoring of security programs to ensure risks are controlled and mitigated.

Role Accountabilities

1. Security Program Support

• Protect Hudbay and employees from technology system attacks.
• Provide second- and third-level support and analysis during and after security incidents.
• Assist IT staff in resolving reported security incidents.
• Review and assess security and infrastructure logs for indicators of compromise (IOCs) or anomalous behavior.
• Assist in completing information security operations documentation.
• Collaborate with information security leadership to develop strategies and plans for security requirements and risk mitigation.
• Participate in application and infrastructure projects to provide security planning advice.
• Draft security procedures and standards for management review and approval.
• Validate IT infrastructure and reference architectures for security best practices and recommend enhancements.

2. Operational Support

• Coordinate operational components of incident management (detection, response, reporting).
• Maintain a knowledge base of technical references, security advisories, trends, and regulations.
• Assist the disaster recovery planning team in strategy selection, development, testing, and maintenance.
• Maintain high IT user satisfaction and implement plans for improvement.

3. Architecture/Engineering Support

• Assist in the development of enterprise architecture (Security/Business) and related policies, principles, and standards.
• Support management on business architecture, modeling, and requirements definition projects.
• Interface with analysts, designers, managers, and subject matter experts to understand business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• IT security certifications such as Security+, GSEC, SSCP are preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in IT, specifically in a Technical Support capacity.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Skilled Knowledge

• A+ certification, Microsoft MCSE, and other certifications are preferred but not required.
• Business-related education is a plus.
• Extensive experience installing, administering, supporting, and troubleshooting Windows 10, Apple OSX, Google GSuite, and Microsoft Office Applications.
• Basic experience administering, supporting, and troubleshooting Active Directory, Windows Server 2016, and cloud-based applications.
• Understanding and experience of LAN/WAN connectivity, IP Networking, firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Exposure to networking, system security, and telecommunication components configuration and diagnostic tools.
• Extensive experience using service desk systems, specifically ServiceNow.
• Experience in security event analysis and triage.
• Extensive experience with Network security practices (Firewall rules, EDR, NAC, IPS/IDS, Load Balancer, etc.), preferably with Watchguard, Cisco, Citrix, SEP, Forescout.
• SIEM experience including management, rules creation, use case deployment, reporting, correlation, and investigation.
• Experience with vulnerability assessments and remediation is an asset.
• Experience with patch management systems is an asset.
• Experience with cloud IaaS and related security (e.g., AWS) is an asset.

Travel

10% to 25% travel required.

Compensation

Expected Compensation: Base salary $95,000 - $119,000 CAD per year.
