Job Description
About Huawei Canada's Advanced Optical Technology Lab
Huawei Canada's Advanced Optical Technology Lab is at the forefront of high-performance optical communications and networking research and development. Our expert team specializes in transmission algorithms, advanced optical systems, physics, and comprehensive optical network management. We engage in a diverse range of projects, from fundamental deep research to developing key product features, and actively contribute to international standards organizations and collaborative research initiatives with our partners. Our vibrant multicultural environment is designed to foster innovation, provide excellent mentorship opportunities, and cultivate a deep passion for continuous learning. If you are driven by the challenge of solving complex technical problems, this lab offers an ideal setting for your expertise.
About the Senior Researcher, Hollow-Core Fiber Communications Role
We are seeking highly skilled candidates to contribute to one or more of the following critical domains, focusing on Hollow-Core Fiber (HCF) technology:
- HCF Optimization & Engineering: Lead initiatives to enhance fiber design, aiming for ultra-low loss, wide bandwidth capabilities, and robust mechanical properties essential for industrial deployment.
- Specialized Components: Develop cutting-edge HCF-compatible connectors, couplers, advanced amplifiers, and innovative interfacing technologies to seamlessly integrate HCF with standard single-mode fibers (SMF).
- System Transmission & Optimization: Conduct rigorous high-capacity transmission experiments and strategically optimize modulation formats to fully leverage the unique properties and advantages of HCF.
- Performance Monitoring & Sensing: Innovate real-time monitoring techniques and explore the potential of HCF for advanced sensing applications within a sophisticated communication framework.
In this role, you will be expected to independently propose and lead high-impact research projects. You will utilize existing tools or develop novel ones to simulate fiber structures and predict system performance. A key responsibility will involve designing and building experimental testbeds to rigorously validate theoretical concepts and prototype new devices. Furthermore, you will be responsible for drafting high-quality technical reports, compelling grant proposals, and preparing manuscripts for submission to top-tier journals and conferences.
