About the Role: Workplace Investigator Consultant
We are looking for a Workplace Investigator Consultant. The successful candidate will be inspired to contribute to the ongoing success of the Investigations practice bringing expertise, experience, innovative practices and ideas, as well as a positive attitude and mindset working part of a team and contributing well founded ideas, solutions and strategies to grow and develop the Company. The successful candidate must possess strong skills in the areas of investigations and an ability to communicate effectively and think creatively with internal and external clients.
The successful candidate will be based at our clients and:
- Conduct investigations with excellence, professionalism, integrity, quality and skill.
- Lead investigations into potential misconduct, fraud, unethical behaviour, bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, microaggressions, safeguarding, control failings and many more areas, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements as well as investigative best practice.
- Prepare and review detailed investigation reports, including findings, recommendations, and preventive measures, and present them to senior management and key stakeholders of clients.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of workplace and societal norms and cultures, and how they inform or affect organisations, consumer and staff perceptions, and workplace experiences.
- Manage an investigative caseload, project managing and conducting multiple investigations at any one time.
- Contribute to the further development of the Howlett Brown brand in relation to Investigations, including sharing of insights, best practice, positively representing the brand.
- Build and protect client relationships, as well as the positive brand and expertise of the business.
- Be a business champion in representing the business by sharing thought leadership and best practices at conferences and events.
- Growth and innovative mindset, with solution focussed approach to growth, scale and general business logistics and obstacles.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively relay complex information to diverse audiences.
- An awareness of workplace culture, trends and practices, as well as a keen passion and commitment to be a thought leader in investigations.
- Have good problem-solving skills, resilience, and logical thinking, ability to evaluate and simplify complex issues, as well as exercise good and independent judgement.
- Be emotionally intelligent and have a well-balanced commercially strategic style.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to communicate to all levels in the company and pivot in times of need and prioritise with speed.
Core Skills and Standard
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong analytical skills with experience in research and assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, both written and verbal and able to effectively engage with diverse clients and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and concise drafting and review capabilities, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- A legal qualification, or a post-graduate degree in a relevant field, but not a prerequisite.
- Exceptional customer service practices and behaviours with a solution focussed attitude and approach.
- Experience in leading complex investigations, and utilising data insights for risk mitigation.
- Prior experience in similar role in a professional firm or multinational corporation.
- An excellent understanding of business integrity principles, compliance frameworks, and global regulatory requirements, including privacy and employment law requirements relevant to investigations and disciplining employees.
They will also:
- Demonstrate respect, dignity and professionalism at all times to colleagues, clients and third parties.
- Role model and comply with staff policies, practices and procedures.
- Professional certifications in investigations, data analysis, or related areas are desirable but not a pre-requisite.
- Demonstrate excellent presentation skills and the ability to present to stakeholders at all levels.
- Be proficient in MS Office applications and associated software.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience and work as part of the Investigations team in areas such as: Misconduct, Bullying, Harassment, Sexual harassment, Microaggressions, Discrimination, Racism, Misogyny and misogynoir, Whistleblowing, Speak up, Control failings, Regulatory investigations, Non-financial and financial misconduct, Modern slavery, Fraud, Disciplinary hearings and appeals.

Role Title: Workplace Investigator Consultant
Location: The roles are office based – working at our client offices. You may be required to visit or work from the Howlett Brown offices as part of any assignment.
Duration of Contract: Flexible, typically 3 to 6 months
