Job Description

Clinical Nurse - Per Diem

Hours of Operation: 8 AM - 8:15 PM

Shift: Variable

As an integral member of our Magnet Nursing team, the successful RN candidate will be focused on patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care. Working in an evidence-based nursing environment, you will have a strong patient-centered approach with an emphasis on providing exemplary customer service. You will demonstrate the ability to assess and interpret age-specific and population-specific data, providing appropriate communication, treatment, and care. Your capacity to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and promote the highest standards of care and safety is critical to our mission.

You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to maintain the standards of professional nursing practices. You will integrate patient care standards into all clinical activities and participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and outcomes. The RN will maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers, and other customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary nursing care in the Operating Room.
  • Serve as a Circulator.
  • Understand the Scrub Role, including passing instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants.
  • Maintain a sterile environment to prevent infections.
  • Ensure the surgical team adheres to aseptic techniques.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
  • Assess and monitor patients during their surgical procedure.
  • Serve as the patient’s advocate, ensuring safety throughout the procedure.
  • Accurately complete the Intraoperative record, including patient's condition, supplies used, and any occurrences during surgery.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of operating room experience, preferably in orthopedics.
  • New Graduate RNs are hired into the Residency Program.
  • RNs with 1+ years of RN experience outside of the OR are hired into the Fellowship.
  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing required.

Certifications Required

  • NYS RN license and registration required.
  • NJS RN license and registration required.
  • AHA BLS certification required.
  • AHA ACLS preferred.
