Employment Details

This is a Regular Full-time position with an Evening Work Shift. The base pay scale for this position is $70.19 - $78.26 per hour. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What You Will Be Doing as a Clinical Nurse I, Operating Room

This role offers a Flex Shift schedule of three days at 11am-9:45pm and one day at 12pm-8:15pm. As an integral member of our Magnet Nursing team, the successful Registered Nurse candidate will be focused on patient advocacy and delivering the highest quality of care to our patients. Working in an evidence-based nursing environment that commands excellence every day, you will demonstrate a strong patient-centered approach with emphasis on providing exemplary and world-class customer service. As a member of our nursing team, you will assess and interpret age-specific and population-specific data, providing appropriate communication levels, treatment, and care. Your capacity to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and promote the highest standards of care and safety is critical to the mission of Nursing in HSS. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care teams to maintain the standards of professional nursing practices in the clinical setting. You will integrate patient care standards in all clinical activities and participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and patient outcomes. The RN will maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers, and other customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide primary nursing care in the Operating Room.
  • Serve as a Circulator.
  • Understand Scrub Role including passing instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants.
  • Maintain a sterile environment to prevent infections.
  • Ensure that the surgical team adheres to aseptic techniques.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during the procedure.
  • Assess and monitor the patients during their surgical procedure.
  • Serve as patient’s advocate, ensuring safety throughout the procedure.
  • Accurately completes the Intraoperative record during surgical procedure to include patient's condition, supplies used, and any occurrences during surgery.

Required Experience

  • 1.5+ years of operating room experience, preferably in orthopedics.
  • New Graduate RNs are hired into the Residency Program.
  • RNs with 1+ years of RN experience outside of the OR are hired into the Fellowship.

Required Education & Certifications

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • NYS RN license and registration required.
  • NJS RN license and registration required.
  • AHA BLS certification required.
  • AHA ACLS preferred.
