Job Expectations
As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer, you will bring a detailed understanding and working experience in Avionics System/software and Certification. Experience in the development of any or multiple Aircraft functions like Displays, Flight Management, Communication & Navigation, Flight Controls, and Cybersecurity is essential.
Your role will involve analyzing customer and operational requirements to define systems architecture, capture requirements, perform integration/systems/functional testing, and conduct design reviews. You will develop, validate, and verify system-level requirements for flight deck avionic programs, and troubleshoot current systems interfaces and performance problems.
You will lead or assist in coordinating engineering review activities associated with SRR, PDR, and CDR milestones. This position requires the ability to work with a diverse and geographically distributed team, interfacing with stakeholders across various CoEs, including Equipment Engineering Teams, Customer Engineering Leads (CEL), SPE, LSE, and ASL.
A good understanding of Avionics architecture (HW and Systems) is required, along with experience in Agile development processes and knowledge of AGILE tools such as IBM Rational DOORS NG for Requirements Management and Atlassian JIRA for Change Management. You will be expected to anticipate problems, recognize and eliminate barriers, keeping management informed of program status and roadblocks, and managing efforts based on priorities, availability, and commitments.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading system architecture definition and requirement capture.
- Conducting integration, systems, and functional testing.
- Troubleshooting complex system interfaces and performance issues.
- Coordinating engineering review activities for major project milestones.
- Collaborating with cross-functional and global teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Avionics, Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering.
- 10+ years of combined system/software/hardware product engineering development experience as a technical solution provider and functional discipline leader.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience with functional decomposition desired.
- Experience working with customers on Systems requirements required.
- ARP4754 process knowledge strongly preferred.
- Knowledge about EPIC/APEX platform and applications desired.
- 5+ years of avionics platform system engineering experience highly desirable.
- Experience on large, complicated programs preferred.
- 3+ years Systems Safety Analysis experience preferred.
- Academic background in Systems Engineering preferred.
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification desired.
- Avionics background, knowledge, and experience on ARP4754A, Aero Process is required.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of team both locally and globally.
