Assistant General Counsel at Honeywell
Drive legal strategies for HTS’ India operations aligned with HTCS’s global roadmap. As Head of Legal for India operations, you will manage a major presence in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurugram, and Madurai.
Responsibilities
- Lead a diversified team of lawyers and collaborate with IP specialists to foster organic growth for Honeywell through both in-house and open innovation approaches.
- Act as a key member of HTCS’ India leadership team, proactively contributing to strategy development, business plan deployment, and supporting global business requirements.
- Support SBG’s IP initiatives and practices while driving cross-SBG IP processes and best practices to maximize value from HTS innovations.
- Strategize and implement IP models and practices for local-for-local business (E4E, MMS), ensuring alignment with the HON Global IP team.
- Identify and interpret changing laws, creating viable business models for HON, making quick decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Establish and manage a framework for engaging with third parties, promoting intelligent risk-taking within HTS.
- Enable HTS engineers to develop business acumen and effectively interact with third parties in commercial discussions, bids, and negotiations.
- Lead and manage NPI contracts and legal documentation for diverse commercial transactions, including university collaborations, technical partnerships with government bodies, IP licensing agreements, supply agreements (out-sourcing services), non-disclosure agreements, consultancy agreements, and testing/certification agreements.
- Drive integrity and compliance programs, partnering with HON’s I&C function and Law Department to oversee and implement these programs across HTS.
- Develop standardized processes incorporating industry best practices for the timely and efficient delivery of legal services to the business.
- Advise HTS leadership on a broad spectrum of legal and regulatory issues.
Qualifications
- Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and/or law school.
- Licensed to practice law in India, the U.S., or another common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of post-qualification experience.
- Familiarity with new age technologies and related regulatory issues, with exposure to the engineering / R&D sector.
- Ability to understand cutting-edge engineering problem statements, translate them into legal terms, and provide practical business solutions.
- Inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoys hard work and continuous challenge, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
- Solid understanding of corporate governance and corporate laws.
