About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the technical lead level to join our innovative team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This Remote Javascript Engineer role is integral to our mission of building verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, with a focus on synthetic approaches and human-in-the-loop methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing and working with high-quality open-source repositories, particularly those hosted on GitHub. Your expertise will contribute to automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality to enhance the datasets used for training and evaluating LLMs in realistic software engineering scenarios.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript is essential.
- Solid understanding of version control systems like Git.
- Experience with Docker and setting up software pipelines.
- Comfortable navigating complex codebases, running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally.
- Prior involvement in open-source projects (contributing or evaluating) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with research teams.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment provisioning.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess code quality for reliable codebases.
- Modify and run codebases locally to test LLM performance.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to design and select challenging repositories and issues for LLMs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering collaboration and meeting project milestones.
