About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join our team in a hybrid capacity. This pivotal role involves managing and overseeing fund accounting transactions within our real estate and private equity portfolios. As a Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records, performing month-end closing activities, and preparing detailed financial reports. Your expertise will support the organization in maintaining transparency and integrity in financial operations, contributing directly to the company's continued growth and success.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fund accounting, with experience in public accounting, property, or real estate finance. This position offers the flexibility of remote work combined with in-office collaboration at our locations in Annapolis, DC, or Baltimore. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting, with specific experience in fund accounting preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial management best practices.
• Experience with fund accounting processes, month-end close, reconciliations, payables coding, and foreign exchange calculations.
• Hands-on experience with Yardi or equivalent property management software.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid environment.
• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of fund accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Perform month-end closing procedures, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Coordinate with the finance team to meet deadlines for assigned accounting tasks.
• Generate client billing statements and conduct account reconciliations in a timely manner.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to computerized accounting systems in collaboration with the IT team.
• Prepare and review financial reports and statements for management review.
• Analyze financial discrepancies, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
• Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues, and report on budget variances to management.
• Respond promptly to accounting inquiries from management and other stakeholders.
• Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned funds.
• Support auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and information.
• Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with insurance, tax, VAT, and other regulatory requirements.
