About the Role

HireArt is seeking a talented MongoDB Administrator to join a global leader in AI development. This full-time, 6-month contract position is remote, available to U.S.-based candidates excluding California.

Key Responsibilities of a MongoDB Administrator

  • Build and mature MongoDB-based database foundations, covering operations, platform lifecycle, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Improve high engineering standards, tooling, and processes within the company.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop backend database solutions for complex data and security requirements.
  • Work alongside the security team on compliance, pen tests, and mitigation strategies to enhance company-wide security.
  • Design and implement systems capable of managing billions of documents with high availability for workforce and internal team access.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Deep experience in designing, installing, and configuring multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on AWS EC2.
  • Proficiency in adding and removing replica and shard nodes as needed within MongoDB clusters.
  • Ability to identify appropriate shard keys and ensure even data distribution across shards.
  • Experience converting non-sharded replica sets to sharded clusters to handle data growth and optimize queries.
  • Expertise in query planning and performance tuning, including experience with Mongoose ODM.
  • Knowledge of MongoDump and MongoRestore for backup and recovery.
  • Understanding of certificate-based x509 authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Experience managing on-premise/self-hosted MongoDB instances.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mongo replication architecture and change streams.

Commitment Details

This is a full-time, 6-month contract role staffed through HireArt. It is a remote position open to candidates based in the U.S., excluding California.
