About the QA Game Tester Role at Hire Overseas
We are seeking a QA Game Tester to join a mobile game studio dedicated to creating movement-based gameplay experiences. This position requires hands-on testing, meticulous bug reporting, and thorough validation of real-world functionality across various devices and environments.
As a QA Game Tester, you will specifically test gameplay mechanics, evaluate step tracking accuracy, verify device integrations, and uncover edge cases encountered during actual usage. This is strictly a manual testing role; automated testing is not involved. You will be crucial in ensuring the product ships stable and reliable updates through manual validation and structured documentation.

What You’ll Work On
Manual Gameplay Testing
- Test core gameplay loops across both iOS and Android devices.
- Validate step tracking and movement-based progression.
- Verify integrations with Apple Health and Google Health Connect.
- Reproduce real-world scenarios, including walking, multitasking, and device interruptions.
- Identify inconsistencies in progression, rewards, and in-game mechanics.
Bug Reporting and Documentation
- Log and categorize bugs efficiently using platforms like Jira or similar tools.
- Provide clear, concise reproduction steps, expected behavior, and actual results.
- Attach relevant screenshots, screen recordings, and device details to bug reports.
- Prioritize issues based on their severity and potential impact on players.
QA Process Execution
- Adhere to structured test plans and test cases.
- Contribute valuable feedback to enhance overall test coverage.
- Validate new features thoroughly before their release.
- Support comprehensive regression testing during updates.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively and clearly with developers and product managers.
- Participate in async updates and synchronous meetings as required.
- Maintain consistent reporting and documentation standards across all tasks.
What You Bring
- 2 to 3+ years of dedicated manual QA experience for mobile applications or games.
- Proven experience testing on both iOS and Android devices.
- Familiarity with prominent bug tracking tools such as Jira.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to clearly reproduce and document identified issues.
- Comfortable working remotely within distributed teams.
- Availability to collaborate during overlapping U.S. business hours when necessary.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing Unity-based games.
- Familiarity with fitness apps, wearable integrations, or step tracking validation.
- Experience testing hardware-integrated features.
- Understanding of mobile performance considerations.
