About the Role: New Graduate Registered Nurse (ASPN I)
As a New Graduate Registered Nurse (ASPN I), you will provide professional nursing services for patients and their families, collaborating with other healthcare providers and team members to achieve expected patient outcomes and improve the care environment. Nurses at Highland Hospital utilize the nursing process and evidence-based practice to coordinate and deliver direct patient care and services. The Level I RN position is tailored for new Associate Degree (AD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) graduates with 6 months of clinical experience or less post-licensure, completing a structured Nursing Practice Orientation Program.

Key Responsibilities and Core Performance Domains
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Level I nurse is accountable for the provision of direct care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process. All nursing positions perform their role within five core performance domains:
- Clinical Practice
- Service Excellence
- Professional Development and Professional Communication and Behaviors
- Research and Evidence Based Practice
- Organization Contributions
The Level I nurse also supports peers in the delivery of patient care services in an organized manner, prioritizing safety and team collaboration and communication, and contributes to unit activities that enhance patient care outcomes.
Professional Development Pathway
The Level I nurse completes the Nursing Practice Orientation Program. Once the Level I nurse and the Nurse Manager complete the six-month evaluation and determine that the nurse has met expectations of performance at the end of the probationary period, the nurse is advanced to Level II RN, signifying successful transition and growth within the organization.
Compensation & Employment Details
The pay range for the New Graduate Registered Nurse (ASPN I) position is $38.00 - $41.00 per hour. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. This is a Full-Time position, with hours ranging from 36-40 per week, and shifts include Days/Evenings/Nights.
Job Requirements
- New licensed RN with 0-6 months experience in RN role.
- BS in Nursing preferred.
- Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider required).
