Job Description
Principal, Market Access
If you've had enough of larger organizations and are seeking to be part of a mid-sized, boutique consultancy, this opportunity at Helix Search might be for you. They've experienced strong growth in 2025 and are already building exciting momentum into 2026.
Helix Search is a specialist US-based market access and payer strategy consultancy. Operating at a mid-sized, boutique scale, they partner with leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Their focus is on addressing complex access, reimbursement, and payer engagement challenges, particularly across rare disease and high-science specialty therapy areas. Expertise in rare disease is a must for this Principal, Market Access role, though candidates specializing in different disease states are also encouraged to connect.
The Opportunity: Principal, Market Access
As a Principal, Market Access, you will serve as a senior, client-facing strategist responsible for 'quarterbacking' market access thinking across multiple rare disease brands. Your key responsibility will be translating complex US access, pricing, and reimbursement issues into clear, actionable strategic and tactical recommendations. This role involves leading the development of US market access and reimbursement strategies, synthesizing HEOR/RWE and competitive insights, and directing brand planning in close collaboration with account, creative, and client teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal individual for this role is comfortable owning the access narrative with senior client stakeholders and enjoys shaping innovative, data-driven payer and patient solutions. Helix Search fosters a collaborative, non-hierarchical culture where your contributions have a significant impact. While the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT) is preferred, flexibility can be offered for the right candidate, with a definite preference for East Coast residency given the client base.
What Makes This Role Unique
- Part of a US-based specialist market access and managed markets agency, within an independent health communications organization, free from big-holding-company branding.
- Focus on payer access, utilization, and reimbursement challenges for pharma and biotech, including complex specialty and rare disease brands.
- Provides end-to-end channel and access solutions: value communication, launch planning, pull-through, policy/formulary work, patient support initiatives, and training/education platforms.
- Mid-sized, boutique feel (around 76 people), offering close-knit, collaborative teams and strong visibility to senior leadership.
- Works across multiple therapy areas with a strong emphasis on high-science, specialty, and rare disease launches and in-line brands.
- Part of a wider life sciences communications group that enables cross-functional collaboration while maintaining the agency's unique identity and culture.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary for this position is around $225,000 - $250,000, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package and bonus. Benefits include generous Paid Time Off (PTO), a 401k plan, and health, dental, and vision insurance. Compensation can be flexible for the right person.
This is a high-impact role where you can truly shape strategy, own the plan, and contribute significantly to an exciting business. This opportunity is expected to attract strong interest, so early application is encouraged.
