Position Summary

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer I role will develop, implement, and support cloud services and solutions for consulting clients. This role builds customer-focused relationships to identify business challenges and develop precise specifications and requirements to arrive at effective solutions. It requires expertise in Azure Infrastructure, M365, and Entra ID with a strong emphasis on security and adjacent technologies.

This position involves direct client consultations as part of the HBS Cloud Architecture Team, with a focus on platform, infrastructure, security, and multiple customer profiles including K-12, higher education, SMB, enterprise/commercial, and government sectors. A personalized certification path (requiring 8+ certifications) is integral to the role.

Roles and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Provide consultative support to Heartland Business Systems’ account base.
  • Collaborate with internal teams for successful scope execution.
  • Research new products, enhance configuration standards, and educate team members.
  • Offer senior-level support and maintenance in customer environments.
  • Assist in developing Azure cloud security architecture for data protection.
  • Implement and manage security architectures for cloud/hybrid systems.
  • Optimize and document security technologies and IAM processes.
  • Create detailed documentation to estimate future projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
  • Maintain industry certifications and stay updated on new products.

Required Experience & Competencies

Minimum 3+ years in a technical-related field with experience in designing and architecting Microsoft Cloud and Identity solutions. Critical competencies include accountability, adaptability, ambition, applied learning, decision making, attention to detail, ethical conduct, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, persistence, and technical aptitude.

Technical Expertise & Certifications

The role requires specialization in one or more Microsoft Cloud focus areas such as Azure Infrastructure, End-user Compute, or Security (Microsoft Purview). Preferred certifications include various Microsoft Certified credentials and industry recognized security and networking certifications.
