Role Overview

As the Lead AI Engineer at Healthnix, you will help shape our AI strategy and tech stack to transform how millions of patients manage chronic pain and disease through precision nutrition. Reporting to the Science Lead and collaborating with our Founding Engineer, you will design and implement production-ready pipelines incorporating LLMs, multimodal data, and backend systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy AI-driven systems (language, retrieval, and multimodal models).
  • Own data strategies and advance our Food Scoring Engine.
  • Build HIPAA compliant AI features in an ethical manner.
  • Collaborate on secure, scalable model-serving APIs and data pipelines with our GoLang/AWS backend.
  • Define best practices for AI integration, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Contribute to evolving our core AI stack and intelligence layer.

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience in applied ML or AI systems engineering.
  • Proficiency in Python frameworks including FastAPI, Pydantic, Pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow.
  • Experience with LLMs or generative AI tools (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, or HuggingFace).
  • Strong familiarity with data pipelines, embeddings, and retrieval-based architectures.
  • Understanding of backend and cloud fundamentals (AWS preferred).
  • Ability to work asynchronously across US and European time zones.
  • Bonus: Experience in healthcare, nutrition, or other regulated sectors.
