About The Role
We are seeking an experienced SharePoint & M365 Collaboration Platform Administrator to lead the modernization, administration, and governance of our SharePoint & Microsoft 365 collaboration ecosystem. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure & Data Platform, this position drives the transition from classic SharePoint to a modern hub-and-spoke architecture and manages Microsoft Teams collaborative workspaces.
The role is hands-on and technical, focusing on establishing collaboration workspace standards and implementing governance controls using Microsoft Purview. You will work closely with the Data Platform Team to ensure SharePoint and Teams content serves as a secure, governed source for ingestion into the Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse.
Main Responsibilities
SharePoint & Teams Modernization (~70%)
- Modernization & Architecture: Lead the transition from classic to modern sites, implementing a scalable hub-and-spoke architecture aligned with business functions.
- Platform Administration: Manage site permissions, SharePoint Advanced Management (SAM), content lifecycles, and storage optimization.
- Information Architecture: Define and maintain site provisioning strategies, including enterprise-wide taxonomy and metadata strategies.
- Automation: Use PowerShell, PnP, and Power Platform to automate provisioning and enhance collaboration workflows.
- Teams Governance: Implement workspace governance standards and establish lifecycle management for Teams and M365 Groups.
- External Collaboration: Configure and maintain external and guest access controls aligned with security and compliance policies.
Purview Governance & Compliance (~10%)
- Security Controls: Configure DLP policies, sensitivity labels for automatic labeling, and data classification across SharePoint and Teams.
- Lifecycle & Audit: Perform regular audits of sites and Teams to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with internal guidelines.
- Retention Management: Configure automated retention schedules to ensure legal compliance and systematic cleanup of stale content.
- Reporting: Provide platform governance reporting and insights to the Data Governance Committee.
Data Lakehouse & Fabric Readiness (~20%)
- Ingestion Readiness: Establish curated libraries, controlled drop zones, and stable access models to support Fabric ingestion.
- Source Standards: Coordinate with the Data Platform team on source data standards, required metadata fields, and naming conventions.
- Label Consistency: Ensure governance labels and metadata are applied consistently at the source to support Data Lakehouse auditability.
Must Have Qualifications
- 6+ years administering SharePoint and Microsoft Teams in an enterprise environment.
- 3-7 years of relevant experience in data governance or analytics enablement.
- Modernization Expertise: Demonstrated experience moving classic SharePoint to modern architectures.
- Governance Tooling: Proven hands-on experience operationalizing controls in Microsoft Purview.
- Technical Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Power Automate.
- Information Architecture: Strong expertise in metadata, content types, and taxonomy.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience leading workshops to drive user adoption and translating technical concepts into business language.
Desired Qualifications
- Certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified (Enterprise Administrator Expert or Security Administrator Associate).
- Data Platforms: Familiarity with MS Fabric, Azure Data Lake, or Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Identity Management: Experience with Entra ID, Conditional Access, and identity governance.
- Advanced Integration: Knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.
