Job Description
Job Summary
The Associate Consultant supports client engagements and business development initiatives by providing analytical, research, and project support across healthcare and human services initiatives. This role contributes to a broad range of consulting activities, including research and analysis, technical assistance, grant support, policy analysis, strategic planning, program and product development, quality improvement, operational improvement, evaluation, and reimbursement and financial strategy support.
The Associate Consultant works under the direction of Consultants, Project Managers, Regional Directors, and Managing Directors and plays an integral role in helping project teams meet client objectives, timelines, and quality standards. The role is expected to effectively leverage modern productivity tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance research, analysis, documentation, and project delivery while maintaining high standards of quality, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
Responsibilities
Work Performed and Job Requirements
Project & Client Support
- Support short-term and long-term projects addressing a wide range of healthcare and human services issues.
- Participate in client and internal meetings to understand project scope, requirements, and objectives.
- Gather, organize, and document qualitative and quantitative information relevant to assigned projects.
- Assist with data analysis to identify issues, trends, and opportunities.
- Prepare draft reports, presentations, summaries, and other materials for internal review and client use.
- Provide day-to-day project support, including task tracking, scheduling assistance, and documentation.
- Assist in developing recommendations, implementation plans, and improvement strategies aligned with project goals.
Business Development & Firm Initiative Support
- Support business development efforts for service lines, affiliated regions, and special initiatives.
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, including research, proposal development, and thought leadership activities.
Technology & AI Enablement
- Utilize AI-enabled tools to support research, summarize complex information, and accelerate project onboarding.
- Leverage AI to assist with drafting reports, presentations, executive summaries, and other deliverables, with all outputs reviewed, validated, and refined prior to submission.
- Apply AI tools to improve data interpretation, visualization development, and written communication.
- Use AI to streamline project workflows, including meeting preparation, note-taking, action item tracking, and document organization.
- Exercise strong professional judgment in the responsible and ethical use of AI, ensuring compliance with data privacy, confidentiality, and client security requirements.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency and quality through the thoughtful application of emerging technologies.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete administrative responsibilities accurately and on time, including timesheets, expense reports, forecasting, training, reporting, and other required documentation.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public health, or related discipline is required. Equivalent work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree may be considered.
Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required in work involving publicly funded healthcare or business administration. This experience may include, but is not limited to, policy, operations, compliance, research, consulting, evaluation, or related professional services work.

- Basic knowledge of healthcare and human services systems, including publicly funded programs or related policy and operational environments.
- Ability to gather, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative information and summarize findings clearly in written and verbal formats.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with guidance and oversight.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft basic reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a project team and follow direction from senior staff.
- Proficiency with standard business and productivity tools and the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
- Ability to responsibly use emerging tools, including AI-enabled technologies, to support research and workflow efficiency while maintaining confidentiality and professional judgment.
