Role Overview

The Sr Automation Project Engineer reports to the Building Adhesive Solutions (BAS) Global Project Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for managing high visibility, complex capital and automation projects in BAS facilities to meet growth objectives. The position can be virtual or based in one of our key manufacturing facilities including Chagrin Falls, OH, Michigan Center, MI or Houston, TX.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute capital projects for the global manufacturing network.
• Assess manufacturing operations for automation potential and propose process technology improvements.
• Prepare cost estimates, project proposals, and capital expenditure requests.
• Develop written specifications, bid packages, and manage projects using Corporate Capex and Stage Gate processes.
• Develop schedules, manage budgets and timelines to ensure on time, within budget completion.
• Coordinate project execution with operations and minimize downtime.
• Review engineering drawings, select equipment, and visit vendors.
• Screen, hire, and oversee contractors and on-site maintenance staff.
• Ensure new equipment meets environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Oversee training for flawless implementation of new systems.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years’ manufacturing experience with a strong record in automation and controls projects.
• Proven project management skills with multiple projects over $250k.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Gantt charts, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and potentially internationally.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in a chemical facility with batch process manufacturing.
• Exposure to Allen Bradley PLC systems and functional safety design.
• PMP certification or similar capital project management experience.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.

Additional Information

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have U.S. work authorization not requiring future sponsorship. Salary is competitive and based on multiple factors, with an annual range between $120,000 and $150,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
