Program Overview

The HSFCU Summer Internship Program is a full‑time, 8‑week paid experience designed for motivated students interested in exploring careers in financial services. The program provides practical exposure to credit union operations.

IT Infrastructure Summer Interns gain valuable hands‑on experience, work alongside supportive teams, build professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that enhance the employee and member experience.

Key Program Details

  • Program Dates: June 15 – August 7, 2026
  • Pay: $20/hour
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday (8 hours/day)
  • Shift Times: Shifts may vary between 7:30am and 5:00pm
  • Application Window: February 13 – March 31, 2026

What You'll Be Working On

As part of the IT Infrastructure team, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting system upgrades, device refreshes, and the technical operations that power HSFCU.

  • Assist senior engineers in planning and sequencing technology refresh activities.
  • Help develop project artifacts including refresh plans, schedules, and asset inventories.
  • Track task status, risks, and progress to support project reporting and executive updates.
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to ensure devices are ready and accessible for upgrade.
  • Perform hands-on deployment activities such as device imaging, configuration, testing, and validation.
  • Update documentation including network diagrams, asset records, and configuration standards as changes are made.
  • Support troubleshooting during deployment activities and escalate technical issues to lead engineers.
  • Assist with cleanup activities including decommissioning, restocking, or secure disposal of replaced equipment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in a four‑year degree program at an accredited college or university, OR enrolled in a two‑year Hawaiʻi program with plans to transfer to a four‑year Hawaiʻi institution
  • Basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organization, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and receive feedback
  • Ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision, and complete assigned tasks
  • Professionalism in a business environment
  • Prior internship or work experience not required
