About the role
Role & Responsibilities
Execute day-to-day PR activities for early-stage and growth-stage client accounts under the guidance of PR Directors and Account Managers/Supervisors. Lead proactive media outreach, building relationships with reporters and securing coverage in technology and business publications. Draft press releases, media pitches, bylined articles, blog posts, and other PR materials with minimal oversight. Research and develop targeted media lists, identifying the right journalists and outlets for each story. Monitor news cycles, industry trends, and competitor activity to identify pitching opportunities. Coordinate media interviews and briefings, preparing talking points and background materials for client executives. Track and report on media coverage, analyzing performance and providing insights to improve results. Support the development of messaging, positioning documents, and strategic communications materials. Mentor and guide PR Account Executives and Account Coordinators, reviewing their work and providing feedback. Maintain media databases and contact management systems with up-to-date information. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for campaigns and initiatives. Build and nurture ongoing relationships with media contacts through consistent, value-driven engagement. Manage multiple client projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards. Collaborate with team members across accounts to share insights and best practices.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of public relations experience at a PR agency.
- Experience working with B2B technology startups, particularly in deep tech or frontier technology sectors.
- Strong media relations skills with a growing network of technology and business media contacts.
- Proven ability to secure media placements through proactive pitching.
- Excellent writing skills with experience drafting press releases, pitches, and thought leadership content.
- Understanding of startup communications including funding announcements, product launches, and company milestones.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into accessible narratives.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Experience mentoring or training junior team members.
- Proficiency with media monitoring and outreach tools.
Preferences
- Established relationships with reporters at technology publications and trade media.
- Experience supporting early-stage startups (Seed through Series A).
- Background or strong interest in emerging technologies.
- Social media management or digital communications experience.
- Familiarity with the venture capital ecosystem and startup funding process.
