This Prompt Engineer role is with Hatch AI, based in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Hatch AI is partnering with a frontier NYC AI lab to build digital gyms where the next generation of AI agents learn to think. We're collaborating with a global leader in AI training to create hyper-realistic simulations that teach agents to master complex enterprise software. Please note: This role is not directly with Hatch; it is for our partner AI Lab based in NYC.

The Prompt Engineer Role

As a Prompt Engineer, you will define what “good” looks like for the AI agent by writing the "rulebook" and job descriptions it follows. You will design the prompts that guide AI agents through tasks in various environments, ensuring the instructions are logical, clear, and efficient. You will also review demonstrations and data to ensure the AI is learning exactly what it should, identifying even the smallest inconsistencies before they become part of the model’s "brain".

This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work from anywhere. It is open to all backgrounds and suits individuals who care deeply about their work and want to shape the future.

What We’re Looking For

• Engagement & Motivation: Actively participates, asks questions, shows interest in the work and in learning the apps/agents.
• Reliable weekday availability: (7–11pm, NZ-adjacent time)
• Receptiveness to Feedback / Trainability: Takes feedback without defensiveness, quickly incorporates feedback into next attempt, proactively seeks clarification when unsure.
• Communication & English Proficiency: Clear written English (no oversimplified or “off” wording), can explain reasoning/justifications in natural language, communicates regularly with team lead and responds promptly.
• Attention to Detail / Conscientiousness: Follows written instructions precisely, spots inconsistencies or errors in prompts/recordings, adheres to guidelines without cutting corners.
• Basic Computer Literacy & App Comfort: Navigates web apps confidently, can search/filter/find specific records in seeded apps, handles multiple simple tasks in new UIs.
• Integrity (No LLM/ChatGPT Misuse): Completes work themselves, does not rely on LLMs for justifications or application answers.
