Job Description
Overview
Harvard Machine Ltd is seeking a dedicated and experienced Precision Machinist to join our general manufacturing team. This on-site role requires a commitment to accuracy and efficiency in producing high-quality machined parts.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to understand specifications.
- Set up and adjust various production machineries and tools for optimal performance.
- Fit and assemble components and machine parts, ensuring close tolerance adherence.
- Document and report any deviations from specifications and tolerances encountered during production.
- Maintain thorough inspection records and complete detailed inspection reports.
- Verify dimensions of machined parts using precise measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Set up and operate both conventional and computer-controlled machine tools, including CNC machines.
- Verify the dimensions of finished products for accuracy and conformance to established specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Required Qualifications
Education: College/CEGEP or equivalent technical training.
Experience: 5 years or more in a precision machining role.
Certifications: Machinist Trade Certification is required.
Technical Skills & Equipment Experience
- Measuring Tools: Proficient in using Micrometers, Calipers, Calibre, Gauges, and Verniers.
- Equipment & Machinery: Experience with Automatic lathes, Boring machines, Cylindrical grinders, Jig borer, Jig grinder, Milling machines, Single purpose production machines, Surface grinders, Tapping machines, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
Work Environment & Physical Capabilities
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
- Capable of handling weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
