Overview
The role of the Senior Preconstruction Engineering Specialist at Harris is to manage preconstruction engineering activities to improve project delivery. You will initiate and influence outcomes between design, engineering, and construction operations ensuring effective communication across all stakeholders to manage risks, quality, and delivery.
Preconstruction Engineering
Coordinate and carry out activities such as scheduling, estimating, bidding, and design reviews. Oversee design tasks including construction administration, reporting, and studies. Actively participate in preconstruction and design meetings with owners, architects, and other design professionals. Prepare timely meeting minutes and documentation, and utilize software tools like AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks for quantity studies, constructability studies, clash detection and value engineering.
- Develop tools and dashboards to automate preconstruction activities.
- Collaborate with project managers to create budgeting and report-out tools.
- Support design studio teams and prefabrication efforts.
Execution and Delivery
Track, manage, and communicate project scope, schedule impacts, change orders, and budget trends. Report on preconstruction concepts and collaborate on construction phase integrations including risk management and constructability reports. Collect and collate lessons learned to improve future projects.
Develop Preconstruction Skills Across The Company
Support Harris teams in understanding preconstruction engineering processes to enhance project delivery.
Culture and Miscellaneous
Demonstrate Harris' culture of safety, collaboration, teamwork, and transparency. Perform additional assignments as directed by your supervisor.
What We're Looking For In You
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 6+ years in mechanical and plumbing engineering, and 4+ years in estimating, bidding and construction contracts. Proven success in delivering preconstruction engineering solutions is essential.
