Overview

The Pretrial Case Manager Bilingual at Harris County is responsible for supervising client's compliance with release conditions, providing the courts with information to address noncompliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Case Documentation: Maintains accurate case notes documenting supervision activities and contacts.

Defendant Release and Supervision: Informs newly released defendants about rules and conditions, establishes their understanding of obligations, enforces conditions, creates individualized supervision plans, and monitors compliance.

Vendor Oversight and Community Collaboration: Initiates, verifies, and monitors services received from vendors, and collaborates with criminal justice and human services agencies, legal community representatives, and others.

Defendant Assessment and Case Management: Screens defendants for support service referrals, administers screening tests, reviews drug tests and monitoring reports.

Court Reporting: Provides timely reports on violations, makes recommendations for sanctions or alternatives to incarceration, and testifies in court when needed.

Reporting and Customer Service: Documents information for monthly reports and responds to inquiries from defendants and the public.

Requirements

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Counseling or related field; or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bilingual in English & Spanish, knowledge of the local criminal justice system, effective communication skills, ability to organize tasks, excellent documentation skills, and capability to work in a fast-paced environment while building professional relationships.

Licensure and Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire), ability to obtain clearance after a criminal background check, evidence of TB skin test, personal transportation, and drug screening upon conditional offer.

Employment Details

Type: Regular Full-time, 40 Hours Per Week

Salary: $27.00 Hourly based on 26 pay periods plus benefits

Work Environment: Office-based with occasional travel between locations in downtown Harris County; exposure to challenging populations and variable office conditions.
