About the Role: Technical Consultant at Harris Computer
SmartWorks, a division of Harris Computer, is actively seeking a highly motivated Technical Consultant who possesses a strong blend of business acumen, robust technical skills, and excellent interpersonal abilities. In this dynamic role, you will be a pivotal link, engaging directly with our valued customers, collaborating closely with development teams, and interfacing with third-party software vendors. Your responsibilities will span gathering and documenting critical requirements, orchestrating application deployments, and delivering comprehensive implementation support and training.
Work Arrangement & Travel
This Technical Consultant position offers significant flexibility, being available remotely across both Canada and the US. While the role primarily supports remote work, you also have the option to work from our corporate headquarters located in Ottawa, Ontario. Expect to travel approximately 30% of the year throughout North America (Canada and the US), when it is safe and appropriate to do so. A valid passport/visa will be required for travel.
Key Responsibilities & Impact
- Gather requirements, design, and implement solutions using SmartWorks’ cutting-edge application suite.
- Integrate SmartWorks’ application suite seamlessly with various third-party software interfaces.
- Develop and meticulously maintain project documentation, standard operating procedures, and other essential documentation.
- Lead or actively assist in training sessions for SmartWorks’ customers, ensuring successful adoption and providing expert implementation support.
- Act as a crucial liaison, fostering effective communication between SmartWorks, customers, third-party vendors, and industry consultants.
- Cultivate a deep understanding of Smart Metering infrastructure and best practices for analyzing corresponding data.
- Provide the Project Manager with timely and regular updates on project progress, identified issues, proposed resolutions, and notable successes.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed as a Technical Consultant, we require:
- A college diploma or university degree in a relevant technical field, such as Electric or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A strong command of SQL and proficiency with one or more Enterprise Database Software solutions (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
- Comfort and experience working effectively in both Linux and Windows environments.
- The ability and willingness to travel within North America up to 30% of the time.
- Previous professional experience within the Utilities industry.
