Overview: Physicians at Handshake

Handshake is actively seeking experienced Physicians to contribute to cutting-edge AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This unique opportunity is distinct from traditional full-time clinical, hospital, or private practice roles, offering a chance to leverage your expertise in a new domain.

You will apply your real-world clinical expertise and medical decision-making skills to evaluate AI-generated content. Your feedback will be crucial in helping AI better understand complex medical knowledge, clinical reasoning, diagnostic processes, treatment considerations, and professional communication within healthcare settings.

This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity perfectly suited to complement research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or existing industry employment.

Project Details

As a Physician contractor, you will utilize your professional experience to design job-related prompts and meticulously review AI-generated responses. Your evaluations will focus on clinical accuracy, sound medical reasoning, clarity, and relevance to authentic healthcare scenarios.

• Status: Independent contractor (not a full-time employee role)
• Location: Fully remote; work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection and access to a desktop or laptop computer
• Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement. Many contributors typically work approximately 5–20 hours per week when assigned to an active project.
• Duration: The Handshake AI program operates year-round, with projects opening periodically across various areas of expertise. Placement is contingent on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
• Active or previously active medical license in good standing
• Clinical experience in direct patient care
• Strong written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Comfort working independently and diligently following written guidelines
• Professional judgment, reliability, and a high standard of discretion and confidentiality, particularly with sensitive or proprietary information

No prior AI or technical experience is required for this role.

Work Authorization Information

F-1 students eligible for CPT or OPT may qualify for projects on Handshake AI. Please consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility. Note that if your school mandates a CPT course, Handshake AI might not fulfill those requirements. STEM OPT is not supported.
