Job Details
Job Summary
This position is accountable for the safe, efficient, timely, and courteous delivery of energy products including fuel oil, diesel fuel, off-road diesel fuel, gasoline, and propane. In quieter times, drivers assist in meter reading, tank setting, fleet reconditioning, and property maintenance.
Specific Responsibilities
- Deliver distillates and propane efficiently while adhering to safety practices and company regulations.
- Perform return-to-service duties such as leak checks, relighting appliances, and oil starts.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections, complete documentation, and maintain delivery trucks.
- Manage paperwork including inspection reports, registrations, hazmat permits, and shipping papers.
- Engage in customer service support and provide accurate reporting of delivery and payment details.
- Assist in off-season tasks including fleet reconditioning, meter reading, tank setting, and property maintenance.
Leadership, Education and Training Requirements
A strong commitment to safety, effective communication skills, independent working capability, strong time management, and flexibility in changing conditions are essential.
Requirements
- Three or more years of petroleum or propane delivery experience preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) with necessary endorsements.
- Valid DOT medical certificate and ability to drive standard-shift transmission.
- Experience with regulatory requirements (DOT, HazMat, OSHA, FMCSA) and proficiency in Android tablets and web-based applications.
