About the Role
At Hacksmith Industries, we don’t just dream up ideas - we build them. We’re looking for a Product Development Engineer who’s part engineer, part inventor, and 100% ready to create the next generation of products for Hacksmith.store.
What You’ll Do
- Invent & Design: Turn wild ideas into functional, manufacturable products.
- Prototype Like a Pro: 3D print, machine, assemble, and test until perfection.
- Engineer for the Real World: Apply DFM principles for ease of production and use.
- Collaborate Across the Lab: Work with builders, machinists, and creatives.
- Make it Ready for Market: Prepare technical drawings, source components, and coordinate with manufacturing partners.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent experience.
- Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
- Hands-on prototyping ability: machining, 3D printing, assembly.
- Knowledge of mass manufacturing processes.
- Experience with DFM and material selection.
- A maker’s mindset: problem-solving, iterative design, and adaptability.
Bonus Points For
- Knowledge of electronics integration into mechanical builds.
- Experience with consumer product launches or e-commerce product cycles.
- Being a Hacksmith fan.

Location & Eligibility
This role is based in Cambridge, Ontario. Applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada and be local or willing to relocate. Telecommuting is not an option.
