Flight Dispatch Operations Manager
British Airways is seeking an exceptional professional to join their Flight Dispatch team within Integrated Operations Control.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of airline operations. With flights to over 200 destinations and up to 800 daily departures, the role is dynamic and crucial for ensuring the Flight Dispatch department effectively manages daily challenges and long-term initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Provide day-to-day leadership to the Flight Dispatch operational team.
- Ensure consistent delivery and foster a high-performance culture.
- Play a critical part in maintaining operational excellence.
- Support the Senior Manager Flight Dispatch in implementing strategic initiatives.
- Ensure Dispatchers and Duty Managers uphold British Airways’ technical, regulatory, and safety standards.
What You’ll Bring to British Airways
You will bring a strong blend of operational leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to inspire high performance in a safety-critical environment. This includes:
- Strong people leadership skills, with proven experience coaching, mentoring, and managing performance in an operational setting.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage confidently with Duty Managers, Dispatchers, and senior collaborators across the business.
- The ability to make sound, timely decisions under pressure while managing competing priorities in a 24/7 operation.
- A deep understanding of Flight Dispatch systems, processes, and regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance with all technical, safety, and legislative standards.
- Strong analytical capability, using operational data to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- A proactive, can-do approach with the flexibility to adapt to disruption, support your team through change, and champion smarter ways of working.
- The ability to see the bigger picture, translating strategic priorities into clear operational direction for your team.
Your Experience
We’re looking for an experienced leader with a strong grounding in an operational environment, including:
- Significant experience in operations management within a safety-critical aviation environment, including operational decision-making and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to lead high-performance teams, including coaching, development, and performance management of operational colleagues.
- Strong knowledge of aviation safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and industry procedures.
- Experience working with complex operational systems and using real-time data to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
- A track record of driving operational improvements, embedding standards, and influencing stakeholders across internal and external partners.
