Mercor is actively seeking skilled Generalist, AI Model Training (Part-Time) experts to collaborate on a significant project with a premier AI research partner. The primary objective is to develop and enhance a diverse dataset of human-aligned tasks, crucial for the supervised fine-tuning (SFT) of cutting-edge frontier models. As an AI Model Training Generalist (Part-Time), you will be instrumental in generating realistic prompts, meticulously evaluating AI outputs, and refining responses through iterative processes to guarantee top-tier quality and domain relevance. This is a project-based, short-term opportunity, perfectly suited for professionals possessing broad analytical capabilities and strong writing proficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Create base prompts across a diverse range of generalist topics.
- Review and revise AI-generated responses for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with human reasoning.
- Develop prompt-response iterations, experimenting with variations in length, style, and system prompts.
- Contribute to benchmarking efforts by identifying specific failure points within model responses.
- Apply consistent quality standards across various content types, including summaries, Q&A, and synthesis tasks.
Ideal Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in research, education, writing, editing, or related analytical fields.
- Proven ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Comfort working independently with evolving task guidelines.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI-assisted writing tools is a valuable plus.

- Remote and asynchronous work environment, allowing you to set your own schedule.
- Expected commitment: 10–25 hours per week.

Compensation & Contract Terms
- Compensation is $35-45 per hour, with the possibility of performance bonuses for strong performance and efficiency.
- Paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
- You will be classified as an independent contractor.
