Overview
The Editorial Assistant at Union Square & Co supports the Editorial Director and Senior Editor, Cooking & Lifestyle. This role involves reviewing proposals, managing scheduling, preparing paperwork, and participating in manuscript review and editing processes. The candidate will liaison with authors, agents, and various internal teams while working on cooking, lifestyle, and illustrated gift books.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate manuscripts and proposals.
- Prepare essential paperwork such as P&Ls, contracts, and title fact sheets.
- Research trends and write catalog and jacket copy.
- Coordinate meetings and manage calendars efficiently.
- Act as primary contact between authors/agents and editors.
- Collaborate with multiple departments including publicity, marketing, sales, production, and design.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates should have strong communication skills, technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent organizational abilities, and a proactive approach. A 4-year degree or equivalent experience and prior experience in publishing or an editorial role are required.
Benefits & Compensation
The position offers a yearly salary of 50,000 USD along with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, FSAs, 401(k), PTO, and more. A flexible hybrid schedule with three days in the office is provided.
