About the Security Tools Engineer Role

GuidePoint Security provides trusted cybersecurity expertise, solutions and services for top organizations including Fortune 500 companies and U.S. government agencies. In the role of Security Tools Engineer, you will join the Network Defense Team to enhance and protect Linux systems as part of our digital defense framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement shell scripts to automate maintenance tasks.
  • Configure and manage system logging and remote log analysis.
  • Establish and manage networking services including firewall configurations and SELinux policies.
  • Utilize partitions and logical volumes to configure local storage solutions.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, ensuring proper management of updates and core services.
  • Apply expertise in networking protocols and troubleshoot using tools like tcpdump and Ping.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in SEIM, network operations, or cybersecurity roles.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; CI Poly required within 6 months.
  • DOD 8570 IAT II certifications (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent).
  • Proven Linux system administration and shell scripting skills.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, automation tools like Ansible, and version control systems.
  • Experience with network security technologies such as Juniper SRX, Palo Alto Firewall, and others.
