Cryptocurrency Investigator at Guidehouse
Guidehouse is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cryptocurrency Investigator to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial in combating illicit activities within the digital asset space, working to unravel complex financial crimes and support critical investigations.
What You Will Do
- Conduct cryptocurrency tracing using a variety of blockchain tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic, CipherTrace, and Elementus to evaluate transaction data.
- Unravel interconnections between crypto wallets and real-world identities to support investigations.
- Provide oversight and support to investigations by identifying fund flows, unique transaction patterns, and interrelationships between transfers.
- Ultimately link individuals to digital assets in complex cases.
- Assist in preparing and delivering training for clients, enhancing awareness of digital asset misuse and understanding of crypto crimes and red flags.
- Prepare client communications, both written and oral, for senior-level review and presentation.
What You Will Need
- Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST" clearance; approved adjudication is required prior to onboarding. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- THREE (3) years of dedicated cybercrime and/or cryptocurrency investigation experience.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of cryptocurrency analysis, blockchain analytics, and open internet intelligence gathering (including social media, Deep and Dark Web).
- Proficiency in data analytics and electronic evidence analysis specifically related to cybercrime and cryptocurrency investigations.
- Deep understanding of criminal activities such as general and complex financial crimes, civil and criminal forfeitures, organized crime, white collar crime, money laundering, drug trafficking, illicit trade finance, and cyber-enabled financial crimes.
What Would Be Nice To Have
- Certifications in various blockchain analytics tools.
- Experience working with government agencies and law enforcement bodies.
- Specialized knowledge of task forces and financial investigative groups targeting financial criminal activities.
- Specialized knowledge of methods, techniques, and subject matter analysis applied to federal investigations.
- Skills in researching, collecting, and analyzing large amounts of raw data from various criminal investigative tools and client-owned databases.
- Ability to apply specialized knowledge to financial and investigative data, extracting and correlating large datasets to produce reports and data visualizations.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for the Cryptocurrency Investigator position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation is determined by factors including skill sets, experience, training, security clearances, licensure, certifications, and business needs.
